ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jessika Steiner was born in New Caledonia and spent her early years aboard a hand-built yacht crafted by her Swiss father. Her family later settled in Berowra Waters, where she grew up immersed in bushland and waterways—landscapes that continue to shape the foundation of her artistic practice.

Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, Jessika explores the intersection of memory, nostalgia, and the natural world. Her paintings are vivid interpretations of childhood impressions—snapshots of colour, movement, and organic form—filtered through a deeply personal lens.

“Through extensive experimentation and play, I discovered a way to communicate the vivid colours and organic shapes etched in my memory. The natural forms that have been ever-present in my life are now interwoven with a growing passion for poetry and literature.”

Her work emerges from a state of ‘creative flow’—an intuitive, spontaneous process that reflects her reverence for the natural environment and the profound influence of women writers on her evolving visual language.
